IT'S NOT OLD AGE, IT'S AORTIC STENOSIS

AUSTRALIANS UNKNOWINGLY LIVING WITH LIMITING HEART VALVE DISEASE GAIN ACCESS TO PROCEDURE THROUGH NEW MEDICARE LISTINGS

Doctors are concerned thousands of Australians are unknowingly living with deadly heart disease, aortic stenosis. It is estimated 9 in 10 people with aortic stenosis remain untreated, but a new listing on Medicare is making a life transforming procedure more accessible.

Since 2009, the Sydney Heart Team has been successfully treating some of the country’s most challenging heart patients, returning them to an excellent quality of life. Operating initially at RPA Hospital and now also at Macquarie University Hospital, our results are outstanding, including world firsts in minimally invasive treatment of heart disease including Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) and off-pump heart surgery.
